Anti-Bullying Campaign - November is Anti-Bullying Month
In conjunction with the Hopewell-Prince George Chambers of Commerce, this program educates a specific group of 8th grade students in the interview and employability skills.
National Junior Honor Society
Recognizes student's scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. These students can be inducted second semester 7th and 8th grade years with a 3.5 GPA and good behavior.
Academic Career Plan (ACP)
Beginning 2011-2012 academic year, all 7th graders shall being to develop a personal Academic Career Plan to become a part of their program of study for high school graduation and post secondary career pathways based on the student's academic and career interests. We will be using the website www.vawizard.org to start this new endeavor. This school year we will begin to explore these interests. Other tools that may be used are Virginia Career View and the Naviance System.
Here at Carter G. Woodson we are dedicated to meeting and exceeding the state expectations. To begin this process, students will participate in career exploration testing this year:
-Match their interests with education and training levels.
-Examine career preparation options.
-Identify tentative career choices.
-Develop educational plans to meet their career choices.
