For the 2021-2022 school year, Hopewell City Public Schools plans to offer a virtual learning option for middle school. This option would provide instruction virtually in order to meet the needs of families who have health/medical concerns related to COVID (or other serious health concerns) and those who prefer for their students to learn mostly virtually.
ONLY STUDENTS WHO HAVE APPLIED AND ARE ACCEPTED FOR THE VIRTUAL LEARNING WILL BE ENROLLED IN THAT OPTION FOR 2021-2022. ALL OTHER STUDENTS WILL BE ENROLLED IN THE IN-PERSON LEARNING. THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR VIRTUAL LEARNING IS MAY 29, 2021 AND THE APPLICATION IS FOR THE FULL SCHOOL YEAR OF 2021-2022.
This option would involve virtual instruction through live interaction with a CGW teacher who is focused only on these students during that block (these teachers will teach in-person students during other blocks of the day). Students will also be assigned learning that is done offline. The times of instruction would match the regular hours of the in-person day for CGW students.
In order to be eligible for this virtual learning option, students must have a documented medical condition that suggests they not be at school this coming year, or parents can choose the academy as a preference to in-person learning provided that the student had regular attendance and participation in virtual learning this school year and has satisfactory grades and performance. In addition, the parent must accept the requirements that are noted below in the application.
Students who are virtual will still have the opportunity to participate in in-person athletics and extra-curricular opportunities, with parent transportation, if there isn't a medical condition that is prohibiting the student from participating.
Please note that some elective courses may not be available through the virtual option.
