CGW Back to School Night

CGW Back to School Night will provide an introduction to teachers and grade level principals for all students. Families are welcome to walk through their student(s) schedule, locate classrooms, and meet teachers.

If you are a rising 6th or 7th grade student, you are strongly encouraged to attend Wildcat Camp (6th Grade- July 21 from 1:00p-3:15p; 7th Grade- July 22nd from 1:00p-3:15p), which will provide more details about Middle School life at Carter G. Woodson. However, if you can't make it you are welcome to join us for Back to School Night instead!

6th Grade Wildcat Camp

What is Wildcat Camp?
Middle School can feel like a HUGE step for rising sixth graders. Wildcat camp will provide an introduction to teachers, principals and other staff as well as a review of the student handbook and expectations of Woodson Wildcat students. Camp will ease the fears of changing classes, lockers, and having more than one teacher. Wildcat Camp is designed to help parents and kids feel comfortable as they move up to Carter G. Woodson Middle School.

7th Grade Wildcat Camp

Why Wildcat Camp?

Middle School can feel like a HUGE step and since many of our rising seventh graders remained virtual last year, we wanted to take this time to welcome them to middle school at Carter G. Woodson.

Attention 8th Graders Interested in the Early College Academy at HHS

Would you like to earn college credit while in high school?
Rising 9th grade students are invited to explore this
exciting opportunity. Richard Bland College (RBC) has
partnered with Hopewell City Public Schools (HCPS) to
create new opportunities for students to earn college
credit at the same time as completing their high school
graduation requirements. The RBC Academy program
allows participants the option of earning substantial
college credit at little or no cost to their families.
Students will have the opportunity to choose dual
enrollment classes that may lead to earning an
associate degree. Interested students will be grouped
together in Freshman Success, English, and Advisory
classes during 9th grade. This does not guarantee
eligibility to enroll in dual enrollment classes or
admittance into the RBC Academy. A student’s academic
success during their freshman year will dictate if the
student can progress to taking college courses the
following year.
Visit the Early College Scholars
website for more information.

All interested students are required to complete an interest form. Forms are available in the MS counseling office or online.

**Deadline for completion is April 16, 2021.**
